Nonhlanhla Dlamini, Kingdom of Swaziland

Member of Parliament:

Hon. Dlamini is a young Member of Parliament in the Kingdom of Swaziland, elected in October 2008. Hon. Dlamini studied Nursing and holds a Master’s in Business Administration. Hon. Dlamini has worked around sexual and reproductive health rights issues for most of her working life, having started her career at Family Life Association Swaziland where she initiated an out of school youth programme.

Hon. Dlamini has wide experience in women’s rights issues and has undertaken research in national studies on sexual abuse, has initiated new programmes aimed at preventing abuse namely girls empowerment projects, male involvement, case managements, economic empowerment, and Lihlombe Lekuhalela – “a shoulder to cry on” initiative.


“Our governments have made a number of promises in the form of conventions, treaties, MDGS etc. But women still continue to die during pregnancy and delivery. I want to add my voice in saying women’s sexual and reproductive health should be given a priority.”
